Field Visit to Yugadanavi  By IET YP UoM Chapter A field visit to Yugadanavi power station organized by the IET YP chapter of the University of Moratuwa took place on the 18th of November 2017, with the participation of 75 undergraduates from levels 2, 3, and 4 of the Electrical Engineering department and Chemical and Process Engineering department. Prof. Rohan Lucas also participated in bringing this field visit to success. The Yugadanavi Power Station (also known as Kerawalapitiya Power Station) is a large oil-fired power plant which is located in  Kerawalapitiya , in the  Western Province  of Sri Lanka. This is owned by LTL Holdings and it is an independent power producer (IPP). Yugadanavi is one of the CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) power stations in Sri Lanka that utilizes two gas turbines and a steam turbine. The power station contributes 300 MW to the national grid. AutoCAD Workshop By IET YP UoM Chapter

AutoCAD is a very useful software for most of engineering fields and especially for Electrical Engineering students should have a better knowledge of AutoCAD for electrical drawings.T o give a basic knowledge of AutoCAD drawings, IET YP UoM planned to conduct an AutoCAD workshop as the last event of the year 2017. The AutoCAD workshop was organized for semester 6, electrical engineering undergraduates. The workshop was conducted by a well experienced lecturer of Department of Electrical Engineering of UoM, Mr. Sachintha Vas Gunawardena. Event started at 3.45 pm at the Computer Laboratory of University Library. The workshop was conducted to give the basic knowledge of AutoCAD 2017 version. The knowledge of basic drawings, drawing modifications (fillets, trimming, exploding, offsets and mirrors), dimensions adding, use of different layers and use of layouts were some of the aspects taught in the workshop. IET YP UoM Recruitment 2018

ET Young Professionals Chapter of University of Moratuwa (UoM) which has maintained a good membership base throughout the past years organizes a recruitment program every year to enhance the membership base of the chapter. This is organized in aim of informing the importance of joining with IET and to make aware the upcoming events of UoM Chapter of IET Young Professionals for the prospective undergraduates of University of Moratuwa. Recruitment program for the year 2018 of IET Young Professionals of UoM Chapter was held on Thursday the 11th of January from 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. at hall ENTC 1. The event was a great success where there were more than 110 undergraduates from 2016 th batch of University of Moratuwa. 3   These inspired members were informed about the need of joining with the IET and opportunities which they can get through IET to gather experiences to build the foundation for their professional career....

Young Woman Engineer of the Year 2017

Grand Finale of  IET Young Woman Engineer of the year 2017 organized by IET   YP section of Sri Lanka network was held on 4 th of December 2017. The event took place at Hotel Galadari, Bougainville Ballroom from 6.30 pm onwards with the presence of Dr. (Ms.) Idah Riddihough (Country Director of World Bank) as the Chief Guest and Eng. (Ms.) R.L. Haturusinha (1 st Lady President of IESL) and Prof. (Ms.) Indra Dayawansa (1 st Lady Chairman of IET Sri Lanka network) as the guests of honors of the event. Applications were called for the event from the Sri Lankan women in Engineering community after the event and website launch. Out of the received applications 20 candidates were short listed for the second round through an initial review. In the second round (semi-final round), the they were interviewed to select 5 finalists and 2 reserve finalists by a judge panels consisting of prominent engineers and professionals in Sri Lanka.
