AutoCAD Workshop By IET YP UoM Chapter

AutoCAD is a very useful software for most of engineering fields and especially for Electrical Engineering students should have a better knowledge of AutoCAD for electrical drawings.To give a basic knowledge of AutoCAD drawings, IET YP UoM planned to conduct an AutoCAD workshop as the last event of the year 2017. The AutoCAD workshop was organized for semester 6, electrical engineering undergraduates. The workshop was conducted by a well experienced lecturer of Department of Electrical Engineering of UoM, Mr. Sachintha Vas Gunawardena.

Event started at 3.45 pm at the Computer Laboratory of University Library. The workshop was conducted to give the basic knowledge of AutoCAD 2017 version. The knowledge of basic drawings, drawing modifications (fillets, trimming, exploding, offsets and mirrors), dimensions adding, use of different layers and use of layouts were some of the aspects taught in the workshop. All the explanations were done using presentations. Also, the printed handouts of AutoCAD exercises were given to participants. Some exercises were practiced during the workshop session with the help of the lecturer.

Session was conducted about 3 hours and hence all the participants were enthusiastically joined the workshop and got the basic ideas about AutoCAD.
